EVGA GTX275 Blacks out?
Heres the PC:
Asus M4A79 Deluxe
EVGA GTX275 (896-P3-1170-AR)
KINGWIN Mach1 ABT-1000MA1S PSU
AMD PhenomII 3.4 x4 965 Black Edit
8gb GSkill DDR2800
300gb VelociRaptor
He was running full settings and getting the full 60fps normally. During a raid in WoW, his screen went black for a sec then FPS dropped to 10-15. Wouldn't come out of it, so he had to quit. Installed Precision and tried upping the fan speeds. Didn't work, under load it still blacked out. Now, its not super high end, but it should be blacking out under a load from WoW!
He just got the card back from RMA yesterday and installed it. He was playing Conan on high setting and his FPS went to 114, then he checked his temp and his tempt was at 80º!
I don't know what to suggest to him, but maybe you guys have the answer!!
Thanks guys
-Mike

powersupply? what model? are the amps?
i had a similar problem on a previous machine...running a 600w powersupply for my gtx 260, started playing l4d, and everynow and again the computer whould just shut down completly, like blink off....alot of times i had to unplug power cord for a few seconds to get it to even come back on.
what i found out was, the amp rating for the powersupply was not the requirement to run it. once i ran the recommended wattage for the video card, everything fixed itself.
post exactly what model powersupply he has not just ""çorsair 600w'"

KINGWIN Mach1 ABT-1000MA1S PSU

hard to believe such a PSU wouldn't have the required amps on the rail to run the card. However, he might have the cable connecting to the card in the wrong slot on the PSU.
Generally, there's a specific place on the PSU, or cable that connects for the video card that provides enough "juice". If it is an amperage issue, he might have just hooked it up wrong.
If you look on the picture from the NewEgg listing, you can see that there are specific places that say "for 6-pin PCIe and 6+2" or something like that. If he hooks a cable up to one of the other ports, he probably isn't getting enough amps.

eww they label theirs wierd.
look here
http://www.newegg.com/Product/ImageG...th%20core%20i7
if memory serves, to find out amps
the amps answer to look for is 36 for this powersupply
you get this by taking 432w divde by 12amp = 36 amp total
find out what your video card needs which i think is 40., i think, if im reading right that powerupply puts out 80...so u should be ok there.
double check he has the right cord in the right slot, otherwise im out of ideas

I built it for him and as my memory serves me.. You can't put the model/sata connectors on the PCI-E ports because they're 6 prong, and the PCI-E are 4.
[Edit]
Yup:
Each outlet and plug has a notch in it, so that they cannot be inserted in the wrong orientation. Further fool-proofing the system, the PCI-express outlets and plugs are only four pins, whereas the Molex and SATA connectors are five pins.

How old is the PSU? Any chance it's failing?
I'd suggest finding another PSU and testing out the build again.

Don't take anything to Geek Squad, I talked to a girl this week that went there for a virus and they charged her $250.00 and didn't even remove it!
I'd try and find someone with a comparable rig and swap parts for testing purposes.
